The Challenge of Making It 3D

Transforming Mondrian’s flat artwork into a three-dimensional piece is no easy task. It requires maintaining the balance of colors and shapes while considering how they would be arranged in a 3D space. Here are the images showcasing our attempts:

The Thought Process

1. Rearranging Colors and Shapes:
   • Transforming Mondrian’s flat work into a 3D form required rethinking the arrangement of colors and shapes. The 3D perspective revealed sides that were not visible in the 2D painting.
2. Spatial Dynamics:
   • By making it three-dimensional, we observed how colors and shapes interact within space, adding a new level of dynamism to the artwork.
3. Choice of Materials:
   • For the 3D object, we chose materials like acrylic and glass, which have a transparent quality. This choice accentuated the interaction between color and light.
