Pursuing Gravity-Defying Architectural Design

Hello. Today, I’d like to share a nostalgic project I worked on when I first entered university, focused on creating gravity-defying architectural designs. This project was a dream I pursued passionately as a student, and looking back, it was a very innocent and enthusiastic endeavor.

What is Gravity-Defying Architecture?

My goal was to create an architectural design with a perfect sphere. This sphere floats above a structure with a large hole in the floor, creating an illusion that the two-dimensional aspect of gravity is being sucked in. The design aimed to create an optical illusion as if gravity did not exist.

The Creative Process

To create this model, I used a soccer ball and attached wires to it. I challenged myself to create a complex and beautiful shape using simple materials. At the time, I didn’t realize it, but this approach was very similar to the philosophy of Buckminster Fuller, a philosopher and architect. Had I known about Fuller’s work and ideas earlier, I might have gained deeper understanding and further developed my project. Nevertheless, I was delighted to have created something similar independently.

Nostalgia and Amusement

Reflecting on this project, it was indeed a wild idea, but I feel a sense of nostalgia and amusement at the memory of my younger self pursuing my passions wholeheartedly. This kind of innocent enthusiasm laid the foundation for my current design philosophy.

In Conclusion

I want to continue embracing the ideas and passions I dreamed of as a student and take on new challenges. I hope this nostalgic project inspires your creativity and passion, even just a little.

If anyone finds this idea interesting, please feel free to reach out. I’d love to explore new architectural possibilities together.
